Imagine finding a revolutionary new platform. You’re ready to dive in, but first, you hit a familiar wall: the KYC process. You dig out your passport, take a live selfie, and wait for approval. A week later, you find another incredible platform. The process starts all over again. And again.
This is a fundamental flaw in how identity is managed online today. Each time you verify yourself, you’re creating a new copy of your most sensitive data, stored on a centralized server you don't control. It’s slow, frustrating, and exposes you to unnecessary risk.
What if you could verify your identity once and use it everywhere? That future starts now on Radix.
We’re excited to announce the launch support of the Proof-of-Personhood (PoP) process, powered by idOS. This is the first step toward a smooth, secure, and user-controlled identity standard. And to kick things off, completing your verification earns you Season Points for the 1 Billion $XRD Radix Rewards airdrop.
The Power of Badges on Radix
Radix is the platform designed with integrated identity from the ground up, Radix's Badge system and the Radix Engine provide the fundamental architecture that makes this decentralized, privacy-preserving identity model possible, setting a new standard for the entire Web3 space.
So to support idOS Proof-of-Personhood, the system uses a Badge. On Radix, Badges are like secure, tokenized ID cards that live in your wallet.
Any transaction on Radix or dApp interaction can request to see a "proof" you hold a specific Badge to grant access, without the Badge ever leaving your account. It’s the Web3 equivalent of flashing a membership card at the door, providing a seamless and incredibly secure way for applications to manage permissions.
The idOS Solution: A Perfect Match for Radix's Built-In Identity
The Problem: Identity in Web3 Is Broken
Wallet addresses cannot serve as proof of humanity since anyone, including bots, can generate thousands of them. The current reliance on traditional KYC methods presents its own set of problems, being repetitive and dependent on centralized entities for data storage. This situation is compounded by the lack of a consistent, reusable identity standard across dApps and ecosystems, which in turn limits trust, enables attacks, and creates significant friction for both users and developers.
idOS is a decentralized identity layer that fixes the model:
- You own your data, stored encrypted under your keys.
- Apps can verify your identity without ever seeing your personal information.
- Once verified, your identity can work anywhere in the idOS ecosystem.
- Compliance-ready, privacy-first, and interoperable across chains.
- It’s the first Web3 identity system built for both privacy and usability.
While idOS provides the decentralized storage layer, Radix provides the perfect execution environment for decentralized identity (DID) to thrive. What makes Radix uniquely suited for this?
The core difference is this: On other blockchains, identity is an added feature built with smart contracts. On Radix, identity is a built-in part of the network itself.
This is beyond a minor technicality: it's the difference between building a secure vault and taping a lock to a cardboard box.
- It's native and secure by default. Other blockchains force developers to write complex, custom smart contract code for access control (a notorious source of exploits). On Radix, authentication is handled by the Radix Engine. Developers simply define which Badge is required for access or certain permissions, and the platform's core consensus layer securely enforces it. This eliminates entire classes of authorization hacks.
- It's Simple and Intuitive for Developers and Users. For developers, requiring a user to "present a Proof-of-Personhood Badge" is as simple as a single line of code. For users, it's a one-click approval in their wallet, like showing an ID card.
- It's atomic and composable. Because badge checks are a native function, they can be composed atomically within a single transaction.

Why This Matters
On-chain identity is an essential element to unlock access to the $400 trillion global financial market, but that’s where most blockchains struggle. Their identity tools are basic and can't handle the requirements of real-world finance.
Radix built identity into the network from the start. On-chain DID and KYC capabilities are growing fast because regulated institutions need to verify who they're transacting with while maintaining compliance. Radix's badge and asset-oriented design works well for permissioned applications that institutions need, while maintaining a permissionless and neutral infrastructure.
The launch of Proof-of-Personhood on Radix with idOS addresses a consistent point of friction in Web3 by providing a reusable, user-controlled identity standard. Furthermore, it presents a timely opportunity to participate in the network's growth: completing your verification now also earns you Season Points toward the significant 1 Billion $XRD Radix Rewards airdrop!
