It’s hard to believe it’s been just under a week since we shared the news of Dan’s passing. Like many of you, we’re still processing the loss. Not just of a colleague, but of someone whose vision changed the course of so many lives, including mine.
The response from the community, the ecosystem, long-time supporters, and even some of the biggest names in the industry has been overwhelming and deeply moving. The stories, the tributes, the sheer number of people who spoke about how Dan inspired them to believe in something better have been a beautiful reminder of the kind of impact that’s rare in this industry.
Dan didn’t just write code. He made people care. He made people believe that it’s possible to build something different, and then proved it by doing the hard, often thankless work for over a decade. Dan was more than a founder or a builder. He was an unstoppable force on a mission. A mythical creature, almost. A dragon, or a giant forging a new world. When Dan appeared, things moved.
The weight and responsibility of that mission now fall to all of us. But just because he’s no longer physically here doesn’t mean his presence is lost. His memory, his clarity, his conviction remain. And that can be the force that drives all of us to take this the rest of the way.
And that’s exactly what we’ve seen. Across the team and the community. A deep sense of commitment that this matters even more now. The hashtag #DoItForDan didn’t come from us. It came from you. And it captures where we are. This isn’t the end of a chapter. It’s the start of a new one. And so much of what Dan envisioned is already built, already live, and ready to drive real momentum.
Current Priorities
In early June we sat down with Dan to align on a focused set of priorities for the months ahead, a clear plan to scale adoption, bring liquidity & use to the network, and push the boundaries of what Radix can deliver.
That plan hasn’t changed. Here’s where things stand:
1. Hyperlane Integration, Trustless Bridging for Radix
The integration with Hyperlane is nearly complete. This will enable assets and liquidity from over 100 chains to move into Radix via a trustless, permissionless bridge - something that aligns directly with Dan’s long-standing belief in strong technical guarantees and open systems. The work is ahead of schedule from a code perspective, and audit prep is already underway. We’re on track to go live towards the end of August, as planned.
2. Radix Rewards, Incentivising DeFi Adoption
The 1 billion XRD incentive campaign is also on track. The aim is to drive usage, grow TVL, attract new users and token holders, and support ecosystem growth with meaningful, long-term impact. The public test was successful, and polishing and refinement are well underway.
Dan was genuinely excited about what this could unlock, and we remain focused on launching before the end of August alongside the Hyperlane integration.
3. Hyperscale Public Test & Xi’an
This was Dan’s technical focus: a world-first public demonstration of over one million transactions per second, with full atomic composability across shards, running on consumer hardware in real-world conditions.
The core architecture is already proven, and the test code is complete, or at least as close to complete as Dan’s perfectionism allowed. But Dan was leading this effort directly and was the subject matter expert. Therefore, August 18th isn’t a feasible date for the test anymore. But we have the documentation, code, and desire to continue this work.
So, we’re starting conversations about next steps with the people Dan worked most closely with over the years, while being conscious that whoever takes up this challenge must understand the technical details as well as share the values and vision behind it. Much of the heavy lifting is already done. But getting the next steps right, both for the public test and for the eventual integration into mainnet via Xi’an, is something we’re approaching with care and intention.
Continuing a Legacy
The team is back to work. Focused, aligned, and committed to seeing this through.
Dan’s optimism about the second half of this year, about what Radix could unlock and prove, is something we all still share. You’ll see communications and community activity begin to resume over the coming days as we return to updates, discussions, and delivery.
This next phase won’t be about replacing Dan. It’s about honouring what he started together.
On a human level, Dan’s family have asked us to pass on their heartfelt thanks. The messages, tributes, and stories from the community have been a genuine source of comfort in an unimaginably difficult week. While they’re still asking for privacy, they know many of you are looking for a way to pay tribute. When the time is right, they’ll share more. But above all else, they share our view that Radix must continue, and it must thrive. It was Dan’s life’s work. And they still believe in it, as much as he did.
We’ll be back with more updates soon. But we want to end by saying thank you for your strength, your patience, and your continued belief.
This isn’t the end of Dan and Radix’s story. It’s the part where we step up. Thank you for being part of it. #DoItForDan
